Bake 2019 - June

Like my new graphic?  Those are my favorite chocolate chip cookies with sprinkles added in.  These are the ones I made for Dad's 70th birthday.

I started off the month with more of my favorite chocolate chip cookies.  These are cookies I made and rolled into balls a couple months ago and froze.   I made a few different kinds of cookies for a tournament that Matt was playing in and hosting at the golf course.

The next batch I made was a triple chocolate version with cocoa powder, chocolate chips, and M&Ms.

These next cookies were AMAZING!  Strawberry crinkle cookies use crushed freeze dried strawberries.  Everyone loves a chocolate crinkle or a lemon crinkle.  I had never heard of a strawberry crinkle.  I found the recipe online and will be making these again.

Here's my baking fail for the month.  I wanted to make this nutella bread.  I'm not sure if my yeast was no good or if I killed it with too hot milk.  But it never rose.  I rolled it and filled it.  I let it rise again but it didn't get very puffy.  Still I tried to bake it.  No good!

Meringues!  I love these little crispy egg white cookies.  I tried to do a two tone piped effect.  I learned two things.  1. Liquid food coloring really doesn't give the vibrant color you want.  They say to use gel or paste food coloring on all the baking shows and they are right.  2.  Piping takes practice.  I'll have to make more cakes, cupcakes, and meringues to practice.  😋

I used three egg white to make the above meringues.  What is one to do with 3 egg yolks?  Make pudding, of course!  I made butterscotch pudding and it was delicious.  Next time I make butterscotch pudding I want to try it with extra dark brown sugar.  Regular brown sugar was great, though.

I see a theme this month.  The last thing I made was with some pie dough from the freezer and some orange curd I made in January from the freezer.   They were the bomb.com!
