Valentine's 2020

Matt and I had a great Valentine's Day.   We ate Orange Coffee Cake for breakfast.  Drank our coffee together and then did some Friday errands.  Matt had the day off and it was fun to spend the day with him.

We went to lunch at Tay's Burger Shack in NKC.  It's been a long time since we'd been there.  I forgot how good it was.  I had a single cheeseburger, standard dress, grilled onions and fries. The fries!  Thanks Mom and Dad for buying us lunch!

We decided that it was time to get a new dishwasher.  Ours is frustrating.  Things don't get clean unless you have already hand washed them.  Sometimes the dispenser works, sometimes not.  It's original to the house and I think they just don't make appliances to last anymore.   We looked at a few different places.  We ended up at Lowe's because they had the best price.  They didn't have the color we wanted so we won't get it until next month.  It will be worth the wait.  I held out for the third rack and all my friends have affirmed that decision.  LOL!

That evening we made our traditional lasagna together.  I learned that if we put it in two trays we can eat one and save one for later so that's what we did.

I usually make some kind of chocolate or red velvet dessert but this year I made a yellow cake.  It was a baking fail!  It wasn't terrible as far as cake goes, but it wasn't great.  It ended up in the trash after I had a couple slices in the name of research.  Hypothesis:  Will this blah cake be better after sitting for a day at room temperature?  Answer: Not much.

Matt wanted to make pancakes for breakfast the next morning.  I didn't have any pancake mix at home, though.  We had just run out of Kodiak mix and I didn't buy any because I was kind of tired of it.  After having so many delicious pancakes over Christmas, I thought I would just get the mix that my dad uses.  Since this was an impromptu idea on Friday night, I ended up making a mix I saw online and it was just as good.  So now I'm the lady that makes my own pancake mix.  😃  But seriously, it was really very nice to be cooked for.

Here we are ten years ago in 2010 when we got engaged.  Look at these kids!
