Bake 2019 - April
My first bake of April was for a work party. I made Cupcake Jemma's chocolate cupcakes. They are SO good. They have coffee in them. You don't taste coffee just delicious chocolate.
Then I made her Chocolate Buttercream and Vanilla Buttercream. Both really good!

We had a party to celebrate our anniversary with our database provider at work. I made chocolate chip cookies with crushed mini Cadbury eggs.

I made another French Silk Pie for Easter Sunday. I can't believe I didn't get a photo of it. It was tasty and I got some compliments on the pie crust. 🙌 That felt good.
I did get a photo of the French Silk-cicles, French Silk Pudding Pops, I made with the leftovers. My pie dish isn't a deep dish one so there are always leftovers. No problem for me.

I really had a great time making this yellow cake with vanilla frosting. It was so much fun! I really wanted to work on some fancy decorating skills. I thought about a watercolor design or a drip cake, but the layers weren't tall enough to really be effective. I needed at least one more layer to make it look cool. So I leveled the cakes and did a crumb coat with white vanilla frosting.
I decided to dye the rest of the frosting pink. After I frosted the cake I had some leftover and I had some cake crumbs from leveling. Of course I thought of cake pops. I had white almond bark in the pantry for such an emergency. I died it a little lighter pink. I just piled them on top. It was fun! People just walked by and picked a cake pop off the top.
It was very tasty as well! I used a recipe from one of my mom's baking cookbooks that didn't make the move to Florida. I used to make this cake all the time.

I know I didn't bake this but I had to share. My friend found a fruit bunny and shared the photo with me. I knew I was going to have a fruit tray so why not make it cute. Does it look like the original? Not even close! Jackson looked at it and said, "You made a fruit Pikachu!" HA!! Love it!

Next up my Sweet and Salty Cookies. Basically, my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe with crushed up pretzels. I put a whole pretzel on top so people knew what they were eating.
I also made a few plain old chocolate chip cookie and then froze a couple dozen cookie balls for emergency cookie situations.

The last bake of April was my mom's fudge. I tried to swirl some peanut butter on top but you can't really tell it's there. I think I got carried away with my marbling. Ha! You can taste the peanut butter.
I took them to small group and they were a hit! The container was almost overflowing when we got there and then was almost empty when we left. Mom's recipe is a can't miss!

I did make a small batch of buttermilk biscuits that were not great. I think I tried this recipe once before and found it to have too much baking powder. I gave it another try and this time really worked to mix the dry ingredients before adding the rest. Still it had an overpowering taste of baking powder. Now I know for sure it's not a good recipe.
That's it for April! I've got some things on my list still that I would love to tackle. I'd like to make more bread, work on my piping and decorating skills, and so much more.
